The Green Bay Packers had a very good showing in their first preseason game against the Bengals. The offense looked good and the defense also came up with big plays. It wasn’t all good news coming out of the game. Tight end Tyler Davis tore his ACL and will be done for the season.

Davis was drafted by the Jaguars before coming to the Packers in 2021. While he did not see the field much on offense, he was a key contributor on the special teams unit. Special teams coach Rich Bisaccia will absolutely miss Davis’ presence with the unit. “My heart hurts for him,” LaFleur said. “We’re going to miss him.” He played 81% on special teams snaps last season and the Packers will now have to find someone to take his place. For a unit that is still in the process of rebuilding, this is not great news.

    Opportunity For The Rookies

This opens the door for rookies Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft to get more playing time. Davis might have gotten more of the blocking reps or some of the higher-pressure situation snaps. Now, it looks like Musgrave and Kraft will have little competition for the top spots on offense. Both have shown a lot of promise but are both rookies which is a position that often struggles in their rookie seasons. It will be interesting to see how the Packers adapt.

You have to feel for Green Bay Packers tight end Tyler Davis. Any time a player tears an ACL, you feel for them. The hope is that he can recover and come back to make a difference next season.
