Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon is entering a pivotal year. 2023 is the final year of his rookie contract and he is looking to get a second one. Last year was a down year for the former second-round pick but he is looking to change that this year. Dillon said he is planning on punishing defenses more this season.
Green Bay Packers AJ Dillon Ready For 2023
Dillon spoke to the Associated Press and talked about his mindset for 2023.
“I think I just really need to play just a little bit more — it’s hard to put a word on it — but like passionate.” I think I need to go out there and just play a little bit more reckless, so not trying to play perfect, not trying to play perfect football. Nobody does. Just kind of go out there and for a lack of words, kind of make defenses feel me.”
Dillon, whose nickname is Quadzilla, can be one of the most devastating backs in the league but last year did not assert himself in the same way as in the past. He is looking to change that this year.
Packers Need A Good Running Game
What is the best way to help a young quarterback? Have a good running game. Jordan Love is a great unknown for 2023 but there is a higher chance of success if Aaron Jones and Dillon become a dominant backfield duo. If Jones can continue is excellent production and Dillon can return to form, it will open up a lot of windows for the young quarterback. The NFC is weak so it isn’t out of the question that the Packers could make the playoffs if everything goes right.
The Green Bay Packers are hoping for a big season out of AJ Dillon. He seems motivated to prove that last year was a fluke.
