The Green Bay Packers have ruled out three key players against the Detroit Lions for Thursday Night Football. It’s definitely been a battle for the Packers to overcome injuries, especially with a short turnaround from Week 3.
While there’s been some hope promised for both Christian Watson and Aaron Jones to be back on the field, the team would be even better with a little more help with offense.
Packers Injury Updates
Per Ian Rapoport, Green Bay has ruled out Elgton Jenkins (knee), De’Vondre Campbell (ankle), and David Bakhtiari (knee) for Thursday’s game.
For #Lions vs #Packers:
— GB ruled out LT David Bakhtiari (knee), G Elgton Jenkins (knee) & LB De’Vondre Campbell (ankle), while RB Aaron Jones (hamstring) & WR Christian Watson (hamstring) are questionable.
— DET RB David Montgomery (thigh) and Taylor Decker are questionable.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 27, 2023
Offensive lineman Zach Tom (knee), Watson, Jones, and cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (back) and Carrington Valentine (bicep) have all been listed as questionable for the game. All the players listed as questionable were limited participants in practice this week.
This marks the second consecutive week where Bakhtiari and Jenkins have not played in a full game together. Bak has been out since Week 1 against the Chicago Bears. In order to beat a tough, good-looking Detroit Lions, the Packers are going to need all hands on deck. Without Bakhtiari and Jenkins, it’s a huge blow to the offense.
Jones has been out since Green Bay’s 38-20 win over the Chicago Bears, and Watson has yet to make his 2023 season debut. Both Tom and Valentine were injured in Week 3’s 18-17 comeback victory against the New Orleans Saints, but have been at the day-to-day status according to coach Matt LaFleur.
