This weekend is the final Rutgers game of the 2022 college football regular season. Despite having a poor record, currently sitting at 4-7 with one game to go, there is a lot the Scarlet Knights can be proud of. The team began their season by winning their first three games. They also finally broke a streak of losing to Big Ten opponents in their home stadium. Here are three players to watch in the final Rutgers game of the 2022 regular season.

Final Rutgers Game: Adam Korsak
While most people would not find a punter an important player to watch, they are wrong. Just like any position, punters are a crucial part of a team. Adam Korsak is a senior for the Scarlet Knights and has broken records with them as well. On a team with a poor offense, punters will be on the field often. The team has a decent defense, and thanks to Korsak, opponents do not get the best field position.

Korsak has been with Rutgers since 2018. This season, Korsak has punted 65 times for 2,855 yards, averaging 43.9 yards per punt, according to Sports Reference. As a senior, he has been with the team for a long time. In five years, Korsak has punted 339 times for 14,876 yards. Last weekend against Penn State, Korsak broke the NCAA punting record on his senior night. With a poor offense, watch Adam Korsak punt one last time in the final Rutgers game of the 2022 season.
Final Rutgers Game: Johnny Langan
Tight end Johnny Langan has been with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for four years. Despite the offense being the biggest weakness, Langan has done a great job trying to carry this team on his back. Langan has even played quarterback for the team.
The first half of last week’s game against Penn State was not Langan’s best game, but he eventually got it together in the second half, just too late. This season, Langan has rushed the ball 30 times for 139 yards and one touchdown, according to Sports Reference. Tight ends may not typically rush the ball, but Langan will do what it takes to get the team a win if possible. Langan also has had 30 receptions for 269 yards for one touchdown. While Langan may not have been the one to score for the Scarlet Knights, he was the one to do his best to get the team in a position to win.

Final Rutgers Game: Christian Braswell
Defensive back Christian Braswell has done a strong job of preventing opposing teams from getting points on the board. Braswell has been with the Scarlet Knights for just one season but made his presence felt. In the final Rutgers game of the season, look for Braswell to push for just one more win.

This season, Braswell has had a total of 34 combined tackles, 22 of which are solo, and one tackle for loss, according to Sports Reference. Braswell also has had seven pass deflections and caught three interceptions for 13 yards, and one touchdown. Braswell is definitely a player to watch as the Scarlet Knights attempt to beat Maryland during the final Rutgers game of the season.
Final Rutgers Game: Avery Young
Defensive back, Avery Young is another starter on this Scarlet Knights’ defense. Young is another player who has been with the team since 2018, and this weekend will be his last as a Scarlet Knight. Young has done a ton for this defense and will look to make one more push for a win in the final Rutgers game of the 2022 season.

This season, Young has had a total of 75 combined tackles, 39 of which were solo, and two tackles for loss, according to Sports Reference. Young also has caught one interception this season for 15 yards and has had four pass deflections. In addition to the one interception, Young has also forced one fumble. Young is a major reason why the Rutgers Scarlet Knights’ defense is better than many may believe. In his final Rutgers game, be sure to watch young, as he tries to prevent Maryland from making too many completions.
Rutgers will face Maryland this Saturday at 12 o’clock Eastern. Be sure to watch for these players and more, in the last Rutgers game of the season, and the last collegiate game for many.
