Doug Peterson makes a statement about Travon Walker’s trajectory
Doug Peterson completed an impressive turnaround in his first season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He took a team that went 3-14 in 2021 and won a playoff game after winning the AFC South last season. The Jaguars played like one of the best teams toward the end of the regular season. Much of that change concerned Peterson’s progression with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Now Peterson hopes EDGE rusher Travon Walker takes the next step.
Account to the Jaguars website, Peterson said Walker would have a chance to get better this offseason once he heals, and he’ll have to start from the bottom:
“Just like Trevor, we can only go up, right?” Pederson said. “He can be a really dominant impact player for us, and this will be a good plus: He’ll have an offseason to kind of rest, too. This time last year, he was going with [pre-draft] visits and the [NFL Scouting] Combine.
“Now he’s had a chance to kind of recover, heal, get back in the weight room and start working on his craft.”
According to Pro Football Focus, Walker earned a 60.3 overall grade for his play last season. He recorded four sacks, 24 stops, and 30 solo tackles.
