The Jacksonville Jaguars release a cornerback
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been busy with roster moves ahead of the free agency period as the team looks to build on its success on the field in 2023. The Jaguars beat the franchise tag deadline to keep tight end Evan Engram on the offense next season. The team recently extended an impactful defensive lineman but will say goodbye to another part of the defensive unit.
According to Jordan Schultz with The Score, Jaguars released starting cornerback Shaquill Griffin. Griffin, who earned a Pro Bowl nomination in 2019, is considered a top cornerback free agent this offseason.

A report came out recently that the Jaguars were expected to part ways with Griffin this offseason. The Jaguars stand to gain $13.1 in cap space room by releasing Griffin this offseason. They need to clear all the cap they can before free agency next week. According to Over The Cap, the Jaguars are over $5 million in the red.
