The Detroit Lions are getting set to host their second consecutive home playoff game after not having one in 30 years. This time, it will be against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Shortly before kickoff, the Lions confirmed that one of their best offensive weapons will be available for the game.
Sam LaPorta Is Active
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, TE Sam LaPorta is active for today’s game against the Buccaneers. He has been dealing with a knee injury for several weeks. However, he will fight through the pain and play through it today.
LaPorta’s Impact
LaPorta made a miraculous recovery last week after being questionable leading up to last week’s wild card win over the Los Angeles Rams. While LaPorta was limited in that game, he did have his moments. LaPorta had three receptions for 14 yards. However, one of those receptions led to a touchdown in a 24-23 win over the Rams.
Detroit Lions Moving Forward
This is huge for the Lions, as LaPorta is a candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Now, the Lions hope he can help them get past the Buccaneers. If they do so, the 49ers await them in San Francisco.
