The Detroit Lions are coming off of one of their best seasons in franchise history after making it to the NFC Championship game. With their high-powered offense and tons of young talent, the future looks bright for the team going forward. However, the Detroit defense struggles once again this season ranking in the lower half of the league overall, which ended up being their kryptonite all season long. The team has been linked to a star defender from the Los Angeles Chargers, who could join a new squad as soon as this offseason.
Detroit Lions Linked To Chargers Star
The Lions are linked to Chargers superstar pass rusher Khalil Mack, who is set to likely be traded by Los Angeles this offseason. Mack has been one of the best pass rushers the game has ever seen, which would bolster the struggling Lions’ defense if he gets signed. With his career coming into the final stretch, Mack could be looking for a team with a “win now” mantra, and Detroit seems like a good fit.

Khalil Mack Trade Proposal
The trade proposal by Pro Football Focus speculates Mack would sign a one-year, $23.25 million deal with Detroit (non-guaranteed), while Los Angeles receives a 2025 fourth-round pick. Mack takes up mist of the Chargers’ cap space, so a trade this offseason seems very likely according to many analysts.
The veteran pass rusher has been in the league since 2014 when he was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders. He then joined the Chicago Bears in 2018 until 2021 when he went to the Chargers, and now he can be on the move once again. Mack has amounted to 591 total tackles, 101.5 sacks and three interceptions in is career, making him one of the most feared and elite pass rushers in recent NFL history.
Will The Chargers Trade Mack?
While this is just a proposal, some experts believe that this trade can become a reality this offseason given where each team stands. Do you think Mack will sign with Detroit this season, another squad, or remain with the Chargers under new head coach Jim Harbaugh?
