Deshaun Watson is the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, and there is no doubt about that. The Cleveland Browns signed Deshaun Watson to a five-year contract worth 230 million dollars guaranteed in March of 2022, and so far, through two seasons, Watson hasn’t done a single thing to show for that 230 million dollars.
Deshaun Watson’s Injury Led To Joe Flacco Love
Watson has only seen the field for 12 games in those two seasons because he was suspended for eleven games in 2022, had a shoulder injury that only let him start six games last season, and was shut down for the season in mid-November.
While Watson was out for the year, the Browns turned to veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. Flacco helped lead the team to the playoffs and quickly became a fan favorite.
Flacco went 4-1 in the regular season, and of course, they fell to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, but if it weren’t for Flacco, the Browns would’ve never seen the playoffs.
Watson Was Not Happy With Browns Fans That Wanted Flacco Back
The 39-year-old quarterback entered free agency this offseason, and many fans wanted to see Flacco back as Watson’s backup. However, the Browns never offered Flacco a contract and instead signed New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Jameis Winston.
On Wednesday night, Flacco signed with the Indianapolis Colts, and many Browns fans went to social media to thank him. Some even wished he would’ve returned to them, and Deshaun Watson wasn’t happy about the fans wanting to see Flacco back in Cleveland.
Watson blocked many Cleveland Browns fans on X who made any regard to Flacco.
Fans started to flee to X to react to Watson blocking fans, and opposing team fans weighed in. A Cincinnati Bengals fan stated how crazy it is that Watson would block his fans, and all Bengals fans are very grateful. They have the number nine, referring to Joe Burrow.
Deshaun Watson blocking his own fans and supporters might be one of the wildest things I’ve seen on the internet
Thankful we have 9

This isn’t the first time Watson has blocked his fans. In September 2023, he started blocking fans who had things to say about how badly he was playing.
Dear @deshaunwatson,
Why are you out here blocking twitter accounts. Didn’t you admit you played poorly and need to be better. So why the blocking of fair criticism.Better yet…don’t worry about social media. We need to get better on offense and some people evaluate your play…

Watson Knows He Has To Play Better, And It’s Getting To Him
Watson has been sensitive since he came to Cleveland, and a lot of that had to do with the sexual assault allegations he was under that got him suspended for eleven games and his poor play through his first two seasons.
The Browns gave up a lot to get Watson and paid him a lot of money, which Watson knows. I’m sure it gets to his head at times that he hasn’t lived up to the hype yet, and he sees guys like Patrick Mahomes winning Super Bowls, and Watson, at one point, was viewed to be the guy to be his Peyton Manning. Like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning went back and forth in the AFC, that was supposed to be Mahomes and Deshaun Watson around 2018, but it never happened for Watson.
Hopefully, Watson can turn it around in 2024, or it’s not a fun time for him on social media because if you think blocking a few fans over wanting Flacco back was terrible, wait until he plays poorly again.
