The Denver Broncos with Sean Payton and Russell Wilson at the helm have been quietly dangerous the last 8 weeks of the season. As they get ready for a huge game against the Detroit Lions this week, they will be tested yet again to see if this is a real team that can make some noise come playoff time.
Last season, the entire NFL world was all over Wilson and the Broncos, saying that Wilson’s time as an effective quarterback that could win a Super Bowl is over. In the off season Denver grabbed Super Bowl champion Sean Payton, and the whispers started again about this team and their chances of making something happen in a division that has Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Once again the Broncos looked like they were on track for the same abysmal season as last year, and Coach Payton, as highlighted in a Sports Illustrated article, was under fire for a rough start and making some inconsiderate remarks about Denver’s previous coach Nathaniel Hakckett. However, after wining 6 of their last 7 games against competition like the Bills, Chiefs, Texans, and Browns, Denver is looking a bit scary if they can sneak their way into the playoffs.
Is Russell Wilson of the Denver Broncos Officially Back?
When the Denver Broncos could not manage to win games last year and when they suffered an incredibly embarrassing 70-20 loss against the Miami Dolphins earlier in the year, the entire NFL community was all over it. Calling for Russ to be benched and challenging how could coach Payton actually is. You couldn’t have a worse start to the year. Although it took a bit of time, the Broncos look like a very scary team now.
It seems, that as fans, we like to call out the failures of teams and players very quickly. When they prove us wrong we are all just quiet about it and don’t want to admit that we were too quick to judge. In a recent article by CBS Colorado, Jesse Sarles writes how Wilson has had a top 10 season at the quarterback position, having a better year than many quarterbacks we would consider elite. NFL writer Cody Benjamin is quoted saying:
“It might be time to start taking him seriously again as the postseason nears,” Benjamin writes. “Since the empty-stats 1-5 start, he’s thrown 11 TDs, just four picks, and made a habit of threading perfect crunch-time throws in a 6-1 stretch.”
Benjamin isn’t the only NFL analyst that is sharing this message and many NFL teams and coaches know that this Denver team can be “dangeruss” if they sneak into the playoffs. A team that has Super Bowl winning head coach and quarterback deserves to be feared.
Sean Payton Of The Denver Broncos Is The Coach Of The Year
Sean Payton is not getting the recognition he deserves for the in season work he has done to turn this franchise around. Going from the most embarrassing loss of his career against the Miami Dolphins to beating some of the biggest contenders in the league in recent weeks is nothing short of a miracle that we are seeing right in front of our faces.
Colin Cowherd, the famous sports talk show host and writer, on one of his recent podcast expressed his view that coach Payton is the most deserving of the award this year with the masterful turn around the Broncos have done mid season.
Cowherd is not the only one sharing his views on the future Hall of Fame coach and his deserving to be recognized this year as coach of the year, but it is still been quiet with all the NFL news that comes out daily. It seems that the NFL world will only start talking about this team seriously when and if they can sneak into the playoffs. If they do, I don’t think any AFC team wants to face them. It may be almost time for Wilson to say the notorious words again, “Broncos Country… Let’s Ride!”
I’m officially buying into the Russell Wilson is back agenda https://t.co/lYvugwTif2
