On Monday, the NFL and Roger Goodell sent a message, suspending Kareem Jackson of the Denver Broncos for four games. Jackson is fresh off an ejection in Sunday’s 19-17 win over the Packers of Green Bay. The safety got the early boot after launching himself at Green Bay tight end Luke Musgrave while the rookie attempted to make a catch near the sideline. The defenseless receiver took helmet-to-helmet contact as Jackson went head-first into the lower part of his facemask.
Denver Broncos Safety Kareem Jackson: Multi-time Offender
Week 7 did not contain Jackson’s first offense, getting slapped with a massive $43,709 fine for unnecessary roughness in Week 6. He had also collected $45,961 after unnecessary roughness in each of the season’s first three games. Sunday also marked the second time this season Jackson has gotten ejected.
Broncos: Safety Room post-Jackson Suspension
Jackson has started every game for Denver this season, tallying 42 tackles, three passes defended, and two interceptions. However, the Broncos have allowed the most yards from scrimmage this season, and opposing passers have thrown 16 touchdowns against five picks against the team from Mile High. Fellow safety P.J. Locke projects to fill in for the now-suspended Jackson. JL Skinner is also another strong safety on the roster. Locke has played just 13% of the defensive snaps this season but has an interception and three tackles. Meanwhile, Skinner, a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, has yet to play.
