Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders brings much attention to himself and his team.
Now, a fellow Big 12 coach made a statement about Sanders and how he continues to change the landscape of a conference with a new look.
UCF Knights HC Gus Malzahn made a strong statement about Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders

UCF Knights head coach Gus Malzahn had high praise for Sanders and what he brings to the table as a Big 12 coach.
Malzahn explained that he has always been a fan of Sanders and that he brings a lot to the Big 12 as a conference in an article from On3.
“First of all, I’m a big Deion fan. Goes back to his playing days and all that. The exposure that he’s giving our conference I think is excellent. He does his own way,” Malzahn said, regarding the Colorado leader, via Big 12 Media Days. “But I think he brings a lot to our conference. I think he is doing a lot of great things.
“His son is one of the best quarterbacks if not the best quarterback. We play them early. That’ll be a huge game. There’s no doubt about that. But he does a great job.”

Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders had similarly high praise for UCF Knights HC Gus Malzahn

Sanders and Malzahn crossed paths before when Malzahn was making an effort to recruit Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders.
Deion had similarly high praise for his fellow Big 12 coach, saying Malzahn was honest and upfront in the same article from On3.
“He’s awesome, man…he’s real, he’s honest, he keeps it 100,” Sanders said, regarding Malzahn. “When we went there on a recruiting trip, I’ve never seen a coach do this, he had another kid that was like a five-star quarterback and he said, ‘Alright, let’s see what y’all got.’
“He took Shedeur on the backfield with some receivers and that quarterback and they went at it, throw for throw. You know how it turned out, but who does that besides the coach that wants to know the truth?”
Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights will take on Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024

In the Knights’ second year in the Big 12, they will be able to have a chance to prove themselves against Sanders and the Buffaloes five weeks into the season.
Malzahn and company’s first season in the Big 12 was not overwhelmingly successful, but it did see the Knights make a bowl game.
A five-game losing streak in the middle of the season made it hard for UCF to get a rhythm, but they pulled out solid victories against the Boise State Broncos, the No. 15 Oklahoma State Cowboys, the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Houston Cougars.
Now, Malzahn will have Arkansas Razorbacks transfer quarterback K.J. Jefferson at the helm instead of John Rhys Plumlee. In another article from On3, Malzahn compared Jefferson to the quarterback who helped him win a national championship with the Auburn Tigers, Cam Newton.
“Dual-threat guy,” Malzahn said on Wednesday at Big 12 Media Days. “Physically, he’s the closest thing to Cam (Newton) that I’ve had. He’s like a running back. He throws a great deep ball. We’re a run, play-action team with emphasis on throwing the ball downfield.”
If Malzahn and the Knights are able to improve to be just a few games better in 2024, they will prove a difficult challenge for Sanders and the Buffaloes. Colorado has four difficult games preceding their matchup with the Knights, none of which will give them time to rest up and catch their breath before facing a sneaky-good Knights team.
