Wednesday’s update on Deebo Samuel’s injury status isn’t hopeful for the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are preparing this week to play the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Deebo Samuel has a shoulder injury
49ers fans were waiting for Wednesday’s injury report to give an indicator of Samuel’s recovery. Samuel had to leave the 49ers’ Divisional Round game against the Green Bay Packers due to a shoulder injury.
On Monday, reports surfaced Samuel had no fracture in the shoulder. However, the 49ers weren’t sure about his availability to play the Lions.

According to KNBR, Samuel is the only 49ers player who won’t practice Wednesday. Head coach. Kyle Shanahan said Samuel’s shoulder is still hurting. Shanahan said Samuel was feeling better on Wednesday. Samuel’s injury progress makes the 49ers hopeful Samuel can play the Lions.

While Samuel might be feeling better, he’s not feeling better enough to practice. That’s a massive concern for the 49ers as they start their first practice of the week.
Due to the nature of Samuel’s injury, it’s possible he could aggravate it in practice or during the game.
