When Davante Adams was first traded by the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders, he thought he was going into his ideal situation. He signed a five-year $140 million contract extension, reunited with Derek Carr (his college teammate), and got to play closer to home. For the first time in his NFL career, his grandparents were able to come and watch him play live.
But while the money is good and his family is still close, the team has not been what he expected it to be. Carr was sent home early in 2022 and he has played with six starting quarterbacks in less than three years.
The head coaching situation, too, has been stable. Josh McDaniels was a disaster in Adams’ first year-and-a-half with the team. And while Antonio Pierce seems poised to last, one can never be sure given the fact that Las Vegas has had four different head coaches (including Rich Bisaccia as interim head coach) in four years.
Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver Davante Adams Requested a Trade
As fans are aware by now, Adams has informed the Raiders that he would like to be traded. This development came after months of the three-time All-Pro denying that he wanted to play anywhere else besides Las Vegas.
Of course, these previous rumors usually included the speculation that Adams wanted to reunite with his former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets. Indeed, the Jets have long coveted Adams, and even tried to trade for him ahead of the deadline last year.
According to multiple reports, the Jets and New Orleans Saints are the two teams at the top of Adams’ list of his preferred teams. New York because of Rodgers and New Orleans because that is where Carr is playing now.
But Carr suffered an oblique injury that is going to keep him out for multiple weeks. The Jets just fired Robert Saleh as head coach and, while they continue to be interested in acquiring Adams, do not seem like a team primed to make another major change.
There is also the fact that Adams does not have a no-trade clause, meaning the Raiders can send him wherever they want. With the Saints and Jets now in different positions than they were in when Adams first requested a trade, other teams are rumored to be entering the sweepstakes.
Davante Adams Causes a Stir by Following Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen on Instagram
Last night, it was revealed that Adams is following Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on Instagram. Buffalo is one of the teams that many feel would be a great fit for Adams, given their need of a high-quality wide receiver and their MVP-candidate quarterback.

If traded to the Bills, Adams would be reunited with former Packers teammates Rasul Douglas and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Bills fans were especially excited about the prospect of Adams joining their team:

The caveat to this is that it is not known when Adams started following Allen. He could have been following him for some time and that the original poster is just farming for engagement.
That being said, Kay Adams seemed to think the Bills were close to acquiring the six-time Pro Bowler and that a trade could happen soon:
Former #Raiders FB Marcel Reece is “a little closer to the situation than he should be” re: Davante Adams . 👀 👀
Does he think it’ll be days or weeks before a move?
And did Kay guess the “sneaky” team that could be in on him? 🫢@heykayadams pic.twitter.com/13XOMJV0E2

As always, fans will have to wait and see, but Adams heading to Buffalo could make for some excitement, especially when the Bills and Jets play each other later this year (they play on Monday night this week, but one would have to seriously doubt Adams would play if traded in the next couple of days).
