Los Angeles Rams Urged To Trade for $12 Million Wide Receiver Amid 1-4 Start

The Los Angeles Rams are struggling in the 2024 NFL season, currently sitting at 1-4 as they head into their Bye Week. According to Bleacher Report’s analysis, though, the team should consider trading for Darius Slayton to improve their performance.

As a result, analysts are divided on the Rams’ prospects. Yahoo Sports ranks them 24th, suggesting they have room for improvement, similar to teams like the New York Giants and Jets. However, NFL.com places them at 27th, noting that head coach Sean McVay has historically turned the team around after tough starts, recalling last season when the Rams won seven of their final eight games after a 3-6 start.

The offense lacks its usual explosiveness due to injuries, with quarterback Matthew Stafford struggling to find his rhythm. The pass rush has also been disappointing, contributing to their defensive woes. Despite these challenges, rookie wide receiver Jordan Whittington has emerged as a bright spot, stepping up in the absence of established stars. Moreover, injuries to key players, including wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, alongside issues on the offensive line, have severely impacted their performance.

Looking ahead, the Rams need to regroup and capitalize on their upcoming schedule, which remains favorable as they won’t leave the West Coast until mid-November. With Kupp’s potential return on the horizon, the team hopes to regain its competitive edge and make a push for relevance in the NFC West. The road ahead is steep, but there’s still time for the Rams to turn their season around.

As the trade deadline approaches, the Rams must make a move to improve their roster. According to Bleacher Report’s analysis, the front office should consider trading for Slayton.

It’s no secret that the Rams’ receiving corps has been beaten up for the majority of the season. To make matters worse, Demarcus Robinson popped up on this week’s injury report. So, the team should look into acquiring Slayton to keep pace in the NFC playoff picture, as the wideout was ranked seventh overall in B/R’s NFL Trade Block Big Board column.

“Slayton, who is entering the final year of his contract, is a proven contributor at the NFL level,” B/R’s Kristopher Knox wrote. “He’s been one of New York’s more reliable pass-catchers since his 2019 rookie campaign, and he has topped 700 receiving yards in four of the past five seasons.”

Following a strong performance in the Giants’ recent victory over the Seahawks, Slayton has drawn interest from several teams, including the Los Angeles Rams. With their receiving corps struggling due to injuries, acquiring Slayton could provide a much-needed boost for the Rams’ offense.

Known for his speed and dependability, Slayton has proven to be a valuable asset for New York. If the Rams pursue this opportunity, it could enhance their playoff prospects significantly, making Slayton a strategic addition to their roster moving forward.
