Indianapolis Colts’ Biggest Problems Get Spotlight Amid 2-3 Start

It’s no secret the Indianapolis Colts are having a mediocre run since the 2024 season started. According to an NFL analysis by Bleacher Report, though, their progress is being hampered by several issues they need to address.

The Indianapolis Colts have seen a decline in their performance rankings, now sitting at No. 22 in ESPN’s Week 6 power rankings following a disappointing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Initially starting the season at No. 18, the Colts faced a significant drop to No. 28 after losing their first two games. They briefly climbed to No. 19 last week, but the recent defeat has put them back on a downward trajectory.

With a current record of 2-3, the Colts have exhibited inconsistency throughout the season. Their offense has shown glimpses of potential, with both Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco taking turns under center.

This ability to generate points is a positive sign, but the team’s defensive struggles have been alarming. The Colts have allowed over 1,000 passing yards collectively to quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Justin Fields, and Trevor Lawrence, highlighting vulnerabilities in their secondary.

While the season is still young, the Colts may have to make some adjustments if they want to make the playoffs. According to an analysis by Bleacher Report, the team has to address these concerns right away.

Biggest Weaknesses:

  1. Interior Defensive Line

  2. Cornerback

  3. Safety

  4. Tight End

  5. Edge-Rusher

Looking ahead, the Colts face a critical matchup against the Tennessee Titans, who are ranked No. 28 and are coming off a bye week. This game presents an opportunity for the Colts to regain some momentum and improve their standing. To do so, they must capitalize on their offensive strengths while addressing the defensive weaknesses that have plagued them thus far.

Ultimately, for the Colts to climb back up the rankings, they need to solidify their defense and find ways to sustain scoring drives. The upcoming game will be pivotal in determining whether they can shift the course of their season and avoid further setbacks. Fans will be watching closely to see if the Colts can bounce back and demonstrate their potential.
