In his recent conversations with owner Jerry Jones, Micah Parsons didn’t hold back in expressing his thoughts on how the Dallas Cowboys can improve in the 2024 season and win it all.
Parsons knows very well what the Cowboys are lacking, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. And so he made sure to tell Jones that it’s an area where they need a big help if they want to avoid another playoff collapse like what happened to them in the Wild Card round against the Green Bay Packers.
Micah Parsons Urges Dallas Cowboys To Search for Pass-Rushing Help
Parsons revealed as much in a recent appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show, noting that the Cowboys need impactful pass-rushing help like Chris Jones, Alim McNeill, Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrave. Obviously, Jones was pivotal in helping the Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl 58, while Armstead and Hargrave were monumental in powering the San Francisco 49ers to the big game.
The Cowboys defensive star shared that he told Jones during the Super Bowl “about players I want to bring in, players I want to be around, who do I need, who do I want to be with, future of our team.”
“I said look at every team that was in that final four. Who did they have? San Francisco, Detroit. Who did Baltimore have? A great linebacking corps, right? Who did San Fran have? Great linebacking corps. K.C. [Nick] Bolton, and they came along. I said we need to get us another bigger linebacker who’s gonna come down — I said we need to get a super, 330 nasty interior,” Parsons shared, via NBC Sports.
“think we’ve got a lot of rushers. I think Osa [Odighizuwa], he can play inside, outside, one of the most versatile DTs. When we lost [Johnathan Hankins], he’s a big dude, but we need to get one of them big old, nasty, pass-rushing, get-going [guys].”
It remains to be seen what Jones and the Cowboys will do and if they will listen to Parsons’ suggestion. However, the 24-year-old linebacker certainly makes a good point. Now that former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is gone as well, it’s more important than ever for the team to buckle up defensive and make sure they take a step forward instead of backwards.
Dallas Cowboys Linked To $135 Million Pass Rusher
For what it’s worth, it looks like the Dallas Cowboys have some options in free agency and in the trade market.
To remember, Jones said previously they are going “all in” for the 2024 season, and that could suggest that they won’t be afraid to spend and make the big moves if needed.
With that said, a recent report from Bleacher Report described them to be “desperate” enough to sniff around for a potential Joey Bosa trade with the Los Angeles Chargers.
“I think Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, they would be able to do it [work out the financials for Bosa],” Bleacher Report’s Nate LeJoie explained during a BR live session. “Get his money in a big bonus initially or whatever the case may be.
“I think they could get his cap hit down to between $10 and $12 million, which is far more reasonable than the other situation we’re talking about. So honestly, I think Dallas could be a very, very reasonable spot for him. I don’t think that there’s going to be many teams in on him.”
For what it’s worth, Chris Jones is another name that the Cowboys could have an interest in. But after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, the star defensive tackle said he doesn’t want to leave the team.
For now, the Cowboys faithful can only wait and see what the team does in the offseason.
