LB Shaq Leonard Plans on Visiting Dallas Cowboys
According to Josiah Anderson, Dallas and Leonard have formally scheduled a visit for tomorrow. Leonard was waived by Indianapolis last week in a move that will cost the Colts $27.7 million in dead cap space.
Who is Shaq Leonard?
Leonard (6’2, 230lbs) was drafted in 2018 in the 2nd round by the Indianapolis Colts out of South Carolina State. He was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, 1st Team All Pro, and named to the Top 100 Players in the NFL after his rookie season. The 3-time All Pro has dealt with injury issues over the last few seasons, which led to a dip in playing time for the Colts.
Why This Makes Sense for the Dallas Cowboys
Dallas has an elite defense, but lacks depth at LB after the season ending neck injury to Leighton Vander Esch. Leonard would be able to step in immediately and become a force in the middle of the Cowboys Super Bowl caliber defense. With games against Philadelphia, Buffalo, Detroit, and Miami left on the schedule, Dallas can use every playmaker available .
