The Dallas Cowboys have some work to do to improve in 2024.
In legendary draft analyst, Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest 2024 NFL mock draft, the Dallas Cowboys will be adding a potential stalwart tackle to protect franchise signal caller, Dak Prescott in the form of Oklahoma Sooner offensive tackle, Jalen Guyton.
“How will the Cowboys replace long-time left tackle Tyron Smith, who just signed with the Jets? Based on their lack of moves over the past 10 days, they might be thinking this pick is their best bet. And looking at my rankings, they’re probably right. Guyton, Amarius Mims (Georgia), Jordan Morgan (Arizona) and Roger Rosengarten (Washington) could all be in play in the final 10 picks of Round 1. Of those four, only Morgan played the majority of his snaps at left tackle, but I think Guyton has the highest ceiling. He started just 14 games in college; he has outstanding physical tools to mold.”
Dallas also has a hole to fill at center, as Tyler Biadasz left in free agency. Jackson Powers-Johnson (Oregon) could be in play.”
Dallas Cowboys’ Up-and-Down 2023 Season
All was well in ‘Jerry World’ as the Dallas Cowboys began their season with a 7-2 record, which included a five-game winning streak over the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Commanders, Carolina Panthers, and New York Giants. Despite a few losses to the Eagles, 49ers, and a shocking one in Arizona against the lowly Kyler Murray-less Cardinals, the Cowboys ended the regular season with back-to-back wins over the Jets and Giants to win the NFC East.
Unfortunately for the Dallas Cowboys, history repeated itself when Jerry Jones’ club was throttled by Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card in their own place, 48-32. After such an embarrassing loss to his old team, it was seemingly a foregone conclusion that Mike McCarthy would be the fall guy for the Cowboys’ short-coming…especially with names like Bill Belichick and Jim Harbaugh on the market.
However, Jerry Jones has other plans as he will keep McCarthy manning the sidelines in 2024, which will certainly be met with mixed reactions by Cowboys fans and foes alike.
