Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has his fair share of haters, but head coach Mike McCarthy isn’t one of them. McCarthy took to Mad Dog Sports Radio to back his franchise quarterback as the 30-year-old remains one of the most scrutinized and picked-apart players in the NFL.
"The intensity of the microscope on Dak, I've never seen anything like it."@dallascowboys head coach Mike McCarthy raves to @AdamSchein about the attitude of quarterback Dak Prescott.

Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy Backs Dak Prescott
“I love Dak Prescott as our quarterback,” said McCarthy on SiriusXM.
“The way he’s built all the way through; obviously, his physical skill set is excellent, but what he endures mentally and emotionally compared to the other 31 (quarterbacks) is unique. In speaking on experience being around great quarterbacks, I’ve never seen a quarterback under a microscope like he is.” Prescott has received more scrutiny than most during his NFL career as he plays for the Dallas Cowboys, one of the league’s most popular yet hated teams.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. For(Prescott) to be as consistent, and his attitude’s pretty much the same every day, as far as (how) he attacks the preparation part of it. I think you have to be unique to deal with that. Especially because it’s year eight or nine for him; he’s been dealing with this for a long time here.” McCarthy believes no quarterback is placed under the microscope quite like Prescott, and rightfully so. The two-time Pro Bowler has taken a lot of flake for his postseason shortcomings, with Dallas yet to make it out of the NFC’s Divisional Round since his debut in 2016.
Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott: NFL Career
Dak Prescott starred at Mississippi State before being selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. The six-foot-two, 238-pound signal caller was thrust into action as a rookie after longtime starter Tony Romo suffered a back injury in the latter half of the preseason. Prescott would shine in his inaugural NFL campaign, throwing 23 touchdowns to four intercepts and winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Despite being a fourth-round draft pick, Prescott would usurp Romo and become the franchise quarterback.
However, after a compelling rookie season, Prescott has yet to match the 13-3 record he posted as a starter in 2016, and only once in seven years has he finished the year with a quarterback rating north of 100. Not that Prescott has played poorly, as evidenced by his 172 passing touchdowns against 69 interceptions in his eight-year career, but the expectations in Dallas remain Super Bowl or bust. Additionally, given the Dallas Cowboys’ presumed elite status among the NFL ranks, they become the joke of many NFL morning shows and water cooler talks anytime they falter.
Prescott is off to a subpar start in 2023. Despite the Cowboys’ 4-2 start to the year, the gunslinger has thrown just six touchdowns to four interceptions. However, he completes 70% of his passes and has run 19 times for 85 yards and a score.
