Colorado suffered a heartbreaking loss last Friday night. Two-way player Travis Hunter was back and any team coached by Deion Sanders is must-see television. The team blew a 29-0 halftime lead to Stanford and after the game, Sanders slammed his players’ lack of passion for the game. Hunter responded to those comments on a recent live stream.
Colorado Star Travis Hunter Responds To Coach Deion Sanders
Hunter is in complete agreement with his head coach. He sees the need for players to reevaluate their priorities after a loss like this.
“Stuff like that makes you get to second-guessing. Do you love this game or do you just like it? Do you like to play it because it’s fun? And I get what he said right there, man”
“You got to love this game to go out there and put your body on the line every day. I love the game. I go out there and dominate every chance I get. It doesn’t matter if I’m rusty, ready to go. I’m going out there to play. Give it my best. A lot of players on the team love the game, but we have to show more.”
Hunter knows that this team is full of great players but talent alone isn’t enough.
More Than Talent And Passion
I talked about this with Sanders’ postgame comments. I get where both of these players are coming from but it takes more than caring the most to win football games. It looked like Colorado relaxed and let Stanford back in the game. The biggest problem doesn’t seem to be a lack of passion but a lack of execution. At the most critical times, the Buffaloes didn’t execute and it led to a loss. Despite this, I have confidence in what the team is building long-term. They have too much talent not to succeed.
Hunter agrees with his head coach. The Buffaloes are off this week but will get a chance to redeem themselves against UCLA in a couple of weeks.
