Colorado Football: Shedeur Sanders Receives Massive Praise From Prominent NFL Draft Analyst; ‘Best Pure Passer In the ’25 Class’

The Colorado football program is 7-9 since the start of the 2022 season, a massive increase regarding win percentage since posting a 1-11 record in 2021. Following a nearly three-year run with head coach Karl Dorrell from 2020 to 2022, the Colorado Buffaloes made a massive splash two offseasons ago, hiring longtime NFL superstar turned frontman Deion Sanders to lead the program. Alongside Sanders, the program ushered in unprecedented transfers, including the son of their newest head coach, quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

After tossing 70 touchdowns to 14 interceptions in two seasons with the Jackson State Tigers, the younger Sanders has become an elite passer with Colorado football. Sanders’ four-year stretch of fantastic quarterback play has gained the attention of one ESPN NFL draft analyst, who then called the signal-caller the most polished passer of the upcoming class.

According to NFL draft analyst Todd McShay of ESPN:

Just finished all 94 plays of Colorado Offense vs Baylor. Even excluding the Hail Mary, Shadeur was sensational. His receivers just don’t have to work for the ball the way a lot of other prospects make their guys work. Best pure passer (anticipation, placement, throwing guys open, etc.) in the ’25 class!

McShay, who joined ESPN as a football analyst in 2006, offered high praise for Colorado football star quarterback Shedeur Sanders after dissecting game film from the team’s 38-31 overtime wins against the Baylor Bears last Saturday. In the win, Sanders went 25-of-41 for 341 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw a game-tying 43-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass to wideout LaJohntay Wester at the end of regulation.

Through 15 games as the starting quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, the Jackson State Tigers transfer has thrown for 4,570 yards, 38 touchdowns, and a microscopic five interceptions. He has also completed nearly 70% of his passes. However, he offers little with his legs, rushing for -67 yards in his Colorado career.
