The Cleveland Browns‘ running back room took a massive hit last season when their star running back, Nick Chubb, went out with a knee injury in Week Two.
Cleveland Browns 2023 Running Back Struggles
The Browns had to scramble to find a running back and resigned Kareem Hunt, who spent four seasons in Cleveland but was never in the Brown’s plans for 2023 until Chubb’s injury.
Second-year running backs Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong Jr tried to help hold the fort down, but they were very underwhelming.
Browns Eyeing Zack Moss
The Browns look to upgrade the second running back spot with a veteran this free agency, and Aaron Wilson from KPRC2 sports in Houston reported the Browns have interest in running back Zack Moss.
A developing market to watch is #Colts running back Zach Moss with interest from #Texans #Titans #Packers #Browns per league sources. Moss coming off productive season for #Colts @KPRC2

Moss has been in the league for four seasons and spent time between Buffalo and Indianapolis.
Moss finally broke out last season with the Colts when he was supposed to be the second running back, but starter Jonathan Taylor was holding out due to wanting a new contract and also got injured, so Moss took that opportunity and capitalized.
He ran for 794 yards and five touchdowns and played a significant role in the passing game, catching 27 passes for 192 yards and two scores.
The Browns Need To Upgrade The Number Two Running Back Spot
Moss could play a significant role as Brown’s number two running back and be the third down back. If something happened to Chubb again and he would have to miss some time, Moss has shown he could step up as the starting running back and take the role over.
The Browns have to upgrade that running back two spot this offseason since the running game is crucial to their success. The Browns could only pass the ball at times because the running game kept getting shut down.
Cleveland expects another big season this year, and having a second running back to complement Chubb could make the offense very dynamic.
