2024 feels like the final “make or break” year for the Cleveland Browns.
Having put together and established one of the league’s best defenses under general manager, Andrew Berry and defensive coordinator, Super Bowl LII champion, Jim Schwartz, it is now up to the Kevin Stefanski-lead Browns offense to step up and become one of the league’s best.
The Cleveland Browns Offense Looking To Take The Next Step In 2024
Already boasting one of the NFL’s best offensive lines year after year, although they did lose their legendary, All-World offensive line coach, Bill Callahan, who went to the Tennessee Titans to coach with his son, Brian Callahan, the Browns needed more from their offensive personnel.
Whilst most of the expectation falls on the shoulders of highly compensated quarterback, Deshaun Watson, for whom Cleveland gave up 3 first round picks back in 2022, putting as strong a pieces around him will not only give him the best chance to succeed, but also allow the Browns brass to make a final decision on his future after 2 sub-par years for the Dawg Pound.
With David Njoku, Nick Chubb and Amari Cooper they already have Pro Bowl/All-Pro talent at their WR1, TE and RB positions filled. However, building depth behind Cooper was a priority this offseason, especially after trading away former WR2, Donovan Peoples Jones, to the Detroit Lions in October 2023.
Speedster Elijah Moore, purchased from the New York Jets for draft picks in April 2023, added some juice to Cleveland’s attack, however, a bona fide number 2 receiver was required for the Cleveland Browns to put Watson in the best position possible.
So they traded for Jerry Jeudy – giving the Denver Broncos 5th and 6th round picks in this upcoming draft in return. And now, it seems like they are locking up new wideout for the foreseeable future with a new deal, per Ian Rapoport.
The #Browns and WR @jerryjeudy have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $58 million, including $41 million fully guaranteed at signing, per me and @TomPelissero.

Jerry Jeudy Getting Paid By The Cleveland Browns
After being highly touted in what was a very well-regarded wide receiver class in the 2020 draft, becoming the 2nd receiver selected and going 15th overall, Jerry Jeudy’s career has not quite been as impressive as some may have projected.
Whilst he has not been a total bust by any means, and has managed to stay healthy except for missing a few games due to an ankle sprain in the 2022 season, he has not managed to put up elite numbers in the NFL since his arrival.
A contract for nearly $20 million/year for a player that has never had a 1000 yard receiving season could be considered by many to be quite steep.
But, the structure and intention of this contract – even more than most – is evidently far more based on future projection of performance, now with a good offensive line with a franchise quarterback at the helm – than the sum of what he achieved in Denver.
It will be interesting to see if/how Deshaun Watson is able to develop chemistry with the former Alabama star, and if, in a few years time, this contract is regarded as a fantastic deal or total overpay.
