The Houston Texans gave a short but concerning update for quarterback C.J. Stroud after losing 30-6 to the New York Jets on Sunday. The Jets dominated the Texans in Week 14, and Stroud played one of the worst games in his rookie season.
Stroud had to leave the game following a play where his head was slammed into the turf at MetLife Stadium. Stroud lay on the turf for a while while medical staff evaluated his injury. Stroud was ruled out of the game while the staff evaluated Stroud for a head injury.

The Houston Texans confirm concerning update for Stroud
According to Adam Wexler of Sports Talk 790, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Stroud is in the concussion protocol for the brain injury he suffered against the Jets. The Texans are unsure when Stroud will return to play for the Texans.

Stroud will have to pass every phase of the NFL’s concussion protocol before he can return. Losing Stroud for any amount of time could cost the Texans a playoff spot. The NFL’s likely rookie of the year, Stroud, has the 7-6 Texans in the thick of being a Wild Card seed with four games left in the regular season.
