Over the past few seasons, the rivalry between the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs has reached extreme levels. A few years ago, the trash talk between the two fan bases reached a new peak when the mayor of Cincinnati Aftab Pureval went on a talk show and sarcastically alleged that Cincinnati superstar Joe Burrow was the father of Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes (words can’t do it justice). It is safe to say that this rivalry will only grow as time goes on.
Cincinnati Bengals to Appear on Major Chiefs Podcast

It was announced last week that Burrow would be taking another step to advance the rivalry when he goes on the New Heights podcast starring Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce. After all, Travis has been arguably the most significant player in the Kansas City dynasty that has won three Super Bowls during the reign of Mahomes. After some enormous rivalry games over the past few years, I can almost guarantee there is going to be some incredibly awkward passive-aggressive trash talk.

Well, it would have been passive-aggressive until current Cincinnati left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. announced that he would be joining Burrow on the podcast. Obviously Brown played for Kansas City (actually lined up next to Travis) for three seasons and even won a Super Bowl with the team in 2023. He then left the team in free agency last season so that he could play with a “Super Bowl Contender”. Given that the younger Kelce brother has been known for his immaturity in recent years, let’s just say that there will likely be some banter on the show this week.

While Kelce and Brown are likely to get into it, Burrow has been renowned for remaining politically level-headed in moments of crisis. Just a few months ago, the star quarterback came face-to-face with disgraced former President of the United States Donald Trump and managed to behave in a way that cost him little love with either side of the political battleground. While Kelce may attempt to bait him into bulletin board material for his team down the road, Burrow will likely remain clean after the interview.

Although the Kelce brothers have become plenty famous in their own right, they went to college miles away from Paycor Stadium at the University of Cincinnati. To pay homage to both the city and their alma mater, the podcast will be produced at Nippert Stadium, home of the college’s football team. While it is painful to deal with the cult of personality that they have evolved into, it is hard not to hold some sense of pride for a couple of Bearcats making a name for themselves.
