Despite a promising start to their previous campaign, the Cincinnati Bengals still ended their run on a disappointing note because Joe Burrow suffered a wrist injury. Next season, though, potentially signing Noah Fant in free agency may make the team better.
In 2022, the Bengals had a good run after finishing the regular season with a 12-4 record. Last season, though, Cincinnati finished with a 9-8 record in the AFC North division, which wasn’t good enough for a playoff spot.
The primary culprit to the Bengals’ woes was Joe Burrow’s season-ending wrist injury. Even if that’s the case, Jake Browning did a good job by exceeding expectations for the team. In the end, the Bengals still fell short of a place in the postseason.
Fortunately, the Bengals can look toward the upcoming draft and free agency to infuse their lineup with talent. The latter, in particular, holds several guys Cincinnati must keep an eye on.
The Main Reason Why Noah Fant Should Be Signed By The Cincinnati Bengals In Free Agency To Pair With Joe Burrow
Among the players Cincinnati must take a look at is Seattle Seahawks’ Noah Fant. Aaron Schatz of ESPN goes deeper into why the Bengals are the best landing spot for the tight end.
“Fant has never quite lived up to expectations as a first-rounder, but that’s more an issue of usage than efficiency. Fant has put up positive DYAR in all five of his NFL seasons, and he ranked ninth among qualifying tight ends in receiving DVOA this past season.
Every tight end on the Bengals’ roster is a free agent, so they’ll need to address the position in free agency and the draft. Imagine what quarterback Joe Burrow could get out of Fant’s first-round talent,” Schatz wrote.
With Joe Burrow expected to start the upcoming season in a healthy state, there’s a lot of potential within the Bengals later this year. Add Fant to the equation, and the team will look more dangerous than ever.
Free agency will soon start in a couple of days, and it’ll soon be known whether the Bengals can sign Fant or not. In any case, it’s going to be an interesting period for both parties in the NFL.
