The San Francisco 49ers have been in the midst of a battle in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns and running back Chrstian McCaffrey has been dealing with an injury. He originally suffered an oblique injury in the second half and was questionable to return before returning to the field. However, he once again left with the same oblique injury and headed to the locker room.

As of this writing, there has been no updates on his status but it is likely Christian McCaffrey will be done for the day after leaving the game twice already. If this is the end of his day, McCaffrey had 11 rushing attempts for 43 yards (3.0 yards per carry) as well as three receptions for nine yards (3.0 yards per catch) and a touchdown reception.
The 49ers have been dealing with injuries throughout the day as wide receiver Deebo Samuel also left the game with a shoulder injury and has been ruled out.
Can the San Francisco 49ers survive Christian McCaffrey missing multiple weeks?
Christian McCaffrey’s injury is definitely a cause for concern as oblique injuries are tricky to deal with. If he is forced to miss a couple of games due to the injury, they are equipped to survive it with their 5-0 record heading into Week 6. They enter this game with a 1.5 game lead in the NFC West over the Seattle Seahawks and have the compliment of skill players to continue playing well.
The big issue is going to be figuring out who is going to be in the backfield as Christian McCaffrey has 99 rushing attempts and no other player has more than 16 for the 49ers. That is going to be interesting to see ifJordan Mason or Elijah Mitchell gets the bulk of the carries if he is forced to miss time.
The one positive is next week, the San Francisco 49ers do not play until Monday as they are on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. Their schedule begins to get a little tougher as after that they play the Cincinnati Bengals and have their bye week before facing a lot of top-tier teams.
This would make quarterback Brock Purdy need to step up and prove his dominance even more as that is one of the skill position players gone. Expect tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to get more looks and incroporate the short passing game to allievate the loss of the All-Pro running back.
