Chicago Bears starting quarterback Justin Fields has been dealing with a thumb injury that will cause him to miss the week seven matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters on Friday that the quarterback is making good progress and that the injury will not require any surgery. However, a respected sports doctor believes that Eberflus is not telling the entire truth about the significance of the injury, and says it can be worse than they are making it out to be.
Something’s not adding up with #DaBears Justin Fields’ thumb.
If he truly dislocated it, then there is associated ligament tears.
I would LOVE to hear which specific joint he injured and the severity of the ligament damage. https://t.co/66tkwqHPPz

Doctor Comments on Justin Fields’ Injury
Jesse Morse is a sports medicine doctor and regenerative specialist. He says that the Bears’ assessment of Fields’ injury does not add up as a dislocated finger, as that would mean ligament tears would be reported and most likely require surgery. Morse posted this to his social media:
“If he [Justin Fields] truly dislocated it, then there is associated ligament tears. I would love to hear which specific joint he injured and the severity of the ligament damage.”
Chicago Bears Struggles
Fields has not attempted to throw the ball since being injured because he does not have any grip strength. Once he is able to throw again, the team will be able to put an estimated timeline on his return based on how he is throwing the ball.
So far this season, Fields has been having the best statistical year of his young career. He has amounted to 1,201 passing yards and 11 touchdowns with a passer rating of 91.6. He has been heavily criticized for being at fault for the Bears’ struggles this season. Chicago is 1-5 and not looking like they will start a winning streak anytime soon, which has caused multiple rumors to spark regarding Fields being traded. We will update you as this situation continues.
