The Nevada Wolf Pack and Iowa Hawkeyes meet this Saturday in week 3 at Kinnick Stadium. The Nevada Wolf Pack look to build on their 2-1 record after getting upset by an FCS opponent. The Iowa Hawkeyes look to get a game above a .500 record, but also find some type of offensive production.
Iowa Hawkeyes Preview
Iowa has to be so happy with themselves being 1-1 instead of 0-2 after only scoring seven points in back-to-back games. The offense has been the story of the Hawkeyes season and it is not for good reasons. What makes the offense hair pulling to watch, it overshadows how great the defense has been.
Iowa is coming off a loss to in-state rival Iowa State 10-7. Iowa State had a 313-150 advantage in total offense in the game.
Nevada Wolf Pack Preview
After losing so much talent and production from the 2021 season, the Wolf Pack started off with an impressive 2-0 start. Well, the undefeated season ended this past Saturday in an upset fashion losing to FCS Incarnate Word 55-41.
The defense could not stop a fly if the fly played dead. QB Lindsey Scott Jr. threw four TD’s and two of them to, Darion Chafin, who had a school-record 262 yards receiving.
The offense played an efficient with accumulating 478 total offensive yards. QB Nate Cox got the call to start and played magnificent for his first start of the 2022 season. Cox completed passes to eight different receivers.
Nevada Wolf Pack v. Iowa Hawkeyes Odds (DraftKings)
- Spread: Nevada (+23)/Iowa (-23)
- O/U: 40
- ML: Nevada (+1300)/Iowa (-2800)
Nevada: 2-1 ATS, 2-1 O/U, 2-1 SU
Iowa: 0-2 ATS, 0-2 O/U, 1-1 SU
Prediction: Nevada Wolf Pack (+23)
I just cannot wrap my head around the Hawkeyes offense going on a scoring spree over 17 points. It all begins with the QB, Spencer Petras, and the underwhelming performance since being the starter in 2020. The Hawkeyes are currently last in offensive yards, 5th worst in passing and rushing yards, and last in points.
The Iowa defense on the other hand will not have any issue with the Wolf Pack’s offense. HC Kirk Ferentz might have to consider making his defense play both sides of the ball. Iowa should win this Saturday against Nevada, but by 23 points? I do not think so.
