The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly worried the Philadelphia Eagles are going to snag a player on Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft at a position the team desperately needs for the upcoming season. The Colts need a running back badly after losing their 2023 starter, Tony Pollard, to the Tennessee Titans in free agency last month.
The Cowboys added former Los Angeles Rams running back Royce Freeman last week, but he’s not going to be the solution the team needs for their RB1 spot.
Ezekiel Elliott met with the Dallas Cowboys

As previously discussed by Vincent Pensabene with GH, the Cowboys met with their former running back Ezekiel Elliott about a possible return for the 2024 season:
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the teams with a clear need as they are entering the 2024 NFL draft: running back.
Josina Anderson is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys are currently in meetings with free agent running back Ezekiel Elliott. He played his first seven seasons with the team before signing with the New England Patriots last season
Jonathon Brooks is desired by the Cowboys

Pensabene wrote the Cowboys could fill their RB1 position with Texas running back Jonathon Brooks:
While they will be mainly attacking during Day 3 of the NFL draft, there are some running backs who make a lot of sense. One is a player from Austin in Texas’ Jonathon Brooks. He is coming off a torn ACL back in November but should be 100% healthy by the time the season starts. Brooks is a dominant runner and could be a significant force for the Cowboys’ offense.
The Philadelphia Eagles like Brooks, too

Per Jane Slater with the NFL Network, the Cowboys are afraid the Eagles will snag Brooks with their No. 53 pick, as the Cowboys pick at No. 56 currently. The Cowboys could look to trade back so they can grab Brooks before the Eagles if they don’t like their options at offensive line on Thursday night:

Will the Cowboys make a trade to fix their running back room?
