    Cam Heyward, Eight-Time Captain

Heyward is now entering his 12th season in the NFL, all being played with the Steelers. He has a lengthy list of accolades which include five-time Pro Bowler and three-time AP First Team All-Pro. Heyward is also the only defensive-lineman in Steelers history with 9.0 or more sacks in at least four seasons.

    TJ Watt, Two-Time Captain

You would be crazy to think Watt wasn’t going to be named a captain for the upcoming season. He is fresh off of a season where he was named AP Defensive Player of the Year while tying Michael Strahan’s record for sacks in a single season with 22.5. Watt is indeed the heart and soul of this defense, as you can often find him in the middle of the huddle amping his teammates up pre-game.

Mitch Trubisky, First-Time Captain with Steelers

Trubisky is new to Steeler Nation this season, but that hasn’t stopped him from making his name known to Steelers natives early. The starting quarterback spot was up for debate following the Steelers final preseason game, but with Trubisky being named a captain, the debate is over. This will be the first season since 2003 that Ben Roethlisberger won’t be at the reigns for the Steelers offense, but he had this to say about Trubisky,

“He (Trubisky) should start. I think he’s a veteran, he’s been around for a while. He gives you, in my opinion, the best chance to win right now.”

Steelers fans are hoping Trubisky can lead their team to the playoffs and make a run for the Super Bowl.

    Najee Harris, First-Time Captain

Harris is coming off a spectacular rookie season where he started every game for the Steelers. He posted 1,200 rushing yards with seven rushing touchdowns along with 467 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. His 1,200 yards on the ground broke Franco Harris’ franchise rookie record of 1,055 set in 1972. Najee also only fumbled the ball once last year, which came in the Wild Card game against the Chiefs.

    Miles Killebrew, First-Time Captain

Last season was Killebrew’s first with the Steelers after playing for the Lions in his first five seasons. He played in every game last season, mainly being inserted into special teams. Since coming into the league, Killebrew ranks 3rd in solo special teams tackles with 47. Along with that, he tied for second in solo special teams tackles in the league last season.

The Steelers will face the reigning AFC Champs and division rival Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday in Cincinnati. Get ready to see the captains as well as the rest of the Steelers face off for the battle in the North.
