BYU Fall Camp started on August 3rd and on the 20th they did their second scrimmage of fall camp. I am going to give my insights from highlights and interviews with the players and coaches I will post all those links at the bottom. Many questions for many positions need answering on who will be clear starters. The offensive line still has no idea who the starting five will be and there are some questions on defense for clear-cut backups. Earlier this week Sitake also mentioned that no major injuries have occurred so far in fall camp. On Tuesday they will transition to game prep for South Florida
Notes
Sitake is happy with the work being done and also isn’t expecting perfection. He says that “the key is getting the team ready, our depth chart formed, and syncing the reps for the guys we think are going to be helpful for our depth chart going into the first game.” The health of the team is starting to see some guys who are banged up but Sitake is confident that those guys are on the road back and that it is being done right. The team’s depth is looking good and the new ones are learning a lot from the veterans. They have been practicing in the rain to help prepare for those conditions.
Offensive Notes
The wide receiver Chase Roberts stuck out this fall camp and brings a lot of energy to practices. The offensive coaches wanted to see the two deep step up this week. That is what they ended up seeing with them moving the ball, making plays, and playing clean football. Miles Davis for the running backs stood out this week and is continuing to emerge as one to play in some games. They still need another week to figure out depth in certain positions.
Defensive Notes
They all got some quality work in. Overall a good scrimmage. More they can improve on before the season gets underway. Still also trying to figure out their depth chart for certain positions. The freshman corners are improving, gaining weight and really getting the playbook down.
