Buffalo Bills: Every now and again, you get caught in an unsavory situation that you simply cannot escape from. This was exactly the case for one particular credentialed reporter who was caught criticizing All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs on a hot mic following Buffalo’s Week 1 loss to the New York Jets.
Buffalo Bills Reporter Gets Tangled Up in Hot Mic Controversy
BuffaloBills.com reporter Maddy Glab failed to realize that she was speaking on a hot mic when she started to talk about Diggs. She didn’t exactly have anything nice to say about the Bills star. Too bad for her, everything she said was recorded and has since gone viral on social media:
“I think they’re trying for Stef,” Glab said (h/t Mike Florio of PFT). “Stef and Micah [Hyde] is who they’re trying for. Hey, there’s no control over Stefon Diggs. Yes. He’s gonna do what he wants to do. He’ll look in my face [and] say ‘eff you.’ It’s how he treats everybody.”

Reporter Issues Public Apology to Stefon Diggs
Glab wasted no time trying to clear her name amid her self-induced mess. She took to Twitter to issue a public apology while also explaining her side of the story:
“I want to take ownership for what I said today,” she said in her statement. “I am very sorry for what I said and meant no ill will. I respect the hell out of Stefon Diggs, and he has been one of my favorite players to cover. He has great character and treats us media with lots of respect. He takes time out of his day to talk to us, which he doesn’t have to do. For context, media was waiting for players to come out for press conferences when a reporter joking told me to go get Stefon Diggs. I said I don’t have control over him — Stef marches to the beat of his own drum and I love that about him. He has a playful relationship with our video department, so that’s why I said he probably wouldn’t say yes to me grabbing him for an interview. I should not have said what I said, and I apologize for that. Stef is not in the wrong, I am.”

Now that she’s put it into context, Glab’s comments become somewhat more acceptable. Apparently, she was just joking around with a colleague and she made her statements about Diggs in the most respectful way possible. That is, of course, under the assumption that you believe everything she’s put out in her statement here.
Either way, this seems like this is water under the bridge. It will be interesting to see her next interaction with Stefon Diggs, though.
