The Buffalo Bills are set to host a playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs this coming weekend, which will be the first away playoff game for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Buffalo has been one of the hottest teams in the NFL for the last five weeks, and looks like they will not be slowing down anytime soon. However, the team will be without a notable name this coming weekend as they have just released a former Super Bowl champion after signing him at the beginning of the postseason.

Leonard Fournette Released
The Bills have released running back Leonard Fournette from their practice squad before their matchup against Kansas City. Fournette was signed to the Bills at the end of December and played in two games against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Miami Dolphins. He was only able to amount to 40 yards in the ground on just 12 carries and served as the backup to starter James Cook.
Fournette has been trying to get his career back on track this season after being a free agent for the majority of the year. He played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before coming over to Buffalo. He has amounted to 4,518 yards and 34 touchdowns throughout his seven-year career and has two seasons with over 1,000 yards rushing. He has earned himself the nickname “Playoff Lenny” for having great production in the postseason and has even won the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay.
Buffalo Bills Offense
Even with Fournette gone, the Bills run game has been decent with Cook in the backfield. While the run game is not the main focus of the offense, Cook has still been a key part of the offensive scheme, going for 1,122 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on the season. The rushing attack has mainly served the purpose of setting up the play-action passes for quarterback Josh Allen, who has thrown for 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns this season.
It will be interesting if another playoff team signs Fournette to make a potential Super Bowl run, possibly his old team in Tampa Bay, who has moved on to the divisional round as well. Will Fournette sign with another playoff team in the next few days, or will he remain a free agent until next season?
