The Buffalo Bills released a lengthy injury report ahead of Thursday Night Football (TNF) against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The good news? Star quarterback Josh Allen practiced in full despite dealing with a right shoulder injury that has cost him practice time this year. The bad news? Starting interior linemen Ed Oliver and Jordan Phillips were deemed limited at Tuesday’s practice.
Oliver missed his team’s 14-9 loss against the New England Patriots last Sunday. Oliver was ruled out early last week with a toe injury he sustained in Week 5. Meanwhile, Phillips popped up on the injury report with a back injury.
Buffalo Bills: Defensive Line Injured Headed Into Week 8
Ed Oliver, the ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, started every game for the Bills this season until missing last Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Oliver has been fantastic this season, totaling nine TFLs, nine QB hits, and four sacks. The 25-year-old had just 2.5 sacks and nine TFLs in 13 starts last year.
Meanwhile, Jordan Phillips is in his second year with the Bills. He has four TFLs and 2.5 sacks in 19 games with Buffalo. Phillips got the starting nod last Sunday against the Pats but did not register a tackle. However, he is now nursing a back injury with Buffalo playing on Thursday night. Fellow lineman Tim Settle also started the game with Ed Oliver on the mend. Settle had one tackle in the loss. The Virginia Tech product would fill the void if either Phillips or Oliver were to miss TNF.
