Damar Hamlin has had quite a colorful career with the Buffalo Bills since he was drafted by this team in 2021 as a sixth-round pick. The 25-year-old is now entering the final year of his rookie deal, which has prompted a bit of soul-searching for the 2023 Comeback Player of the Year awardee.
According to the Buffalo safety, he’s still dreaming of someday suiting up for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin Fantasizing About Steelers
Hamlin was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, which is just five miles outside of Pittsburgh. He went to high school at Central Catholic in PA, and he suited up for Pitt during his college playing years.
This dude literally traces his roots back to Pittsburgh, which is why he’s been very vocal about wanting to someday play for the Steelers:
“I think ending my career as a Pittsburgh Steeler would be a dream situation,” Hamlin said (h/t Bryan DeArdo of CBS). “I played at Pitt. I played in Heinz Field probably for like eight years straight between WPIAL championships and Pitt. So, a dream come true would be finishing my career as a Steeler.”
For now, though, there is no question about Hamlin’s loyalty to Buffalo. He is expected to play a significant role for the Bills in 2024 as he’s now back to full strength following his life-threatening heart injury.
What happens beyond next season, however, is anybody’s guess. If he had a choice, though, it is clear which team Hamlin would like to play for.
