The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly ignored a Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator after he reached out for a job as the Steelers offense continues to sputter under offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
The Steelers’ offense struggled again in their win in Week 5 over the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers’ defense willed the team to a victory by creating three turnovers and recording a safety. Even with all the defensive help and good field position, the Steelers’ offense managed three field goals and a touchdown.
The Steelers offense only had 289 yards against the stingy Ravens defense.
The Steelers offense has been heavily criticized early this season as the team has been held to seven or fewer points twice in five games. Head coach Mike Tomlin said after Week 4 that he knew there needed to be changes on offense following their blowout loss to the Houston Texans.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are ignoring a coach
According to Mark Kaboly with The Athletic, Byron Leftwich recently reached out to the Steelers regarding a coaching job. The Steelers have ignored Leftwich.
Report: Former #Bucs OC Byron Leftwich has reached out to the #Steelers about a coaching job but they are "pretty much ignoring him." per @MarkKaboly
The Steelers were again held to under 20 points on offense on Sunday, a constant theme under OC Matt Canada. But it makes sense… https://t.co/xqxr5wjfEY pic.twitter.com/Ll3v06rMTH

Leftwich won Super Bowl XLIII with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was fired after the Buccaneers’ January loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the postseason as Tom Brady retired. The Buccaneers were in reboot mode for this season.
Leftwich could be beneficial to the Steelers coaching group this season. But for now, the Steelers aren’t making profound changes.
