The Browns have been all over the news this season with their indecisiveness at the quarterback position following the injury of Deshaun Watson. They have started the rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson who gives them a boost of mobility but isn’t yet a confident passer in the NFL and they certainly won’t be starting P.J. Walker after the team announced yesterday that they were cutting him from the roster. Luckily the Browns have a quarterback on their team with experience performing and winning in big games.
Former Raven to Start for Browns against Jacksonville
The Browns announced on Sunday morning that former Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has earned himself another opportunity to start against the Jaguars after the 38-year-old game manager exhibited a serviceable performance against the Los Angeles Rams.
The former Super Bowl Most Valuable Player made a critical interception that put the game against the Rams out of reach but otherwise was an adequate ball distributor for the Cleveland Offense. The team has struggled wildly as Flacco is the fourth quarterback option that they’ve attempted this season. They seemed to be making the decision to stick with Flacco when they cut former Jaguars starting quarterback PJ Walker less than twenty four hours ago.
Another major boost to the Cleveland Offense will be wide receiver Amari Cooper being cleared from concussion protocol and most likely playing today. With the combination of Flacco’s arm and Cooper’s speed, Cleveland should be able to threaten Jacksonville enough through the air to prevent the defense from stacking the box against the run game.
The Browns will look to use Flacco as a central figure to boost the offense as they make a playoff push late into the season. Cleveland has a fairly difficult schedule so they will need to rely on their elite defense for that to happen.
