Notre Dame has secured a massive target on the recruiting trail.
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, four-star Offensive Tackle Will Black has committed to Notre Dame. The Connecticut-native chose the Fighting Irish over powerhouses Alabama, Michigan, and Penn State, among other schools.
The 6-foot-7, 290-pound tackle announced his decision to the Fighting Irish on Thursday and offered the following statement on his decision:
“I’ve built a great relationship with the coaches (Rudolph and Freeman) and I really believe in them and think they can develop me into the best player I can be. Notre Dame is known for producing offensive linemen. The academics at Notre Dame are great and set you up for life after football. They have a great culture at Notre Dame and I believe I’m a great fit there.”
The staff in South Bend was a major factor in Black’s choice, something he delved into with On3:
“I’ve been building a relationship with the coaches there for a while. Once coach Rudolph came in and offered me at camp we have been getting to know eachother better which is who I’m closest with. I got to meet his family and learn more about who he is as a person. His plan for me is to develop me into a player like Joe Alt and send me to the NFL.”
Black is the 312th ranked player in the country for the 2025 recruiting cycle, coming in as the 23rd ranked Offensive Tackle, and 2nd ranked player from the state of Connecticut.
Notre Dame currently has the fifth ranked class in On3’s 2025 team rankings.
