There is now a little more clarity on when New York Giants QB Daniel Jones may see the field once again. According to Adam Schefter, it looks like he is not going to return for the Giants until at least Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys.
What Is Wrong With Daniel Jones?
Daniel Jones has missed the last two games due to a neck injury. He was also ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the New York Jets. However, now we know that he will at least miss Week 9’s clash with the Las Vegas Raiders as well.
Even before he suffered a neck injury, the 2023 season was not a memorable one for Jones. He had just 884 passing yards and two touchdown passes through five games.
Plus, he threw six interceptions in that stretch. Jones only threw five interceptions throughout the entire 2022 season.
Tyrod Taylor
In the meantime, Taylor has been filling in for Jones for the last two weeks and will do so again tomorrow. While he is not lighting up the stats sheet, he has not thrown an interception yet this season.
Now, it looks like the New York Giants are going to have to rely on Taylor for longer than expected.
Do the New York Giants Have a Quarterback Controversy?
The Giants’ offense has been mediocre at best this season whether they have Jones or Taylor behind the center. Both quarterbacks have only provided one win each for New York and the Giants have the lowest-scoring offense in the NFL.
The current timeline has Jones set to return on the road against the Dallas Cowboys in two weeks. If the opening game of the season is any indication, this may not be the most ideal spot for Jones.
He threw two interceptions in that game and had two fumbles. Plus, he was sacked seven times in that 40-0 loss against the Cowboys.
Regardless, Taylor will get more chances to show the Giants and their fans what he has to offer. The Giants host the Jets tomorrow and go on the road to play the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 9.
