Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce has been getting attention from numerous teams in the league now since the regular season has ended. While many Raiders players are voicing their love for the coach and desire for him to stay, the Raiders will have some competition in bringing the coach in.
Pierce just met with Tennessee Titans after they fired Mike Vrabel, as they are looking to hire a new head coach. The Titans are an interesting job but they are in a huge rebuild on offensive side of the ball, so staying with this Raiders team is probably more interesting to the coach. Now The Atlanta Falcons are requesting to interview the coach.
Arthur Smith was recently fired as well in this crazy coaching carousel, so Atlanta is now looking for their next head coach as well. This is a more interesting job than Tennessee, and they have some amazing young pieces to work with.
Las Vegas Raiders Coach To Interview With Atlanta Falcons
Antonio Pierce is set to now conduct a second interview while the Raiders have not made any plans for interviews at all. Pierce had the team playing amazing so it makes sense that other teams want to check if he would be a great candidate to lead their team. The Falcons have drafted well and have a lot of good young talent at the skills position. They are just looking for a quarterback and they are quite close to being a playoff team.
If there is any team that will take Pierce away from Vegas it would be the Falcons. If the Raiders don’t make a move a move on him quickly it may destroy the locker room. Many players have been extremely vocal about wanting Pierce to return to be their coach next season. Maxx Crosby has gone even further than that.
Crosby expressed that he would explore trade options if Pierce is not brought back to be the coach for the team. Crosby is one of the best defensive players in the league and probably the best player for their team. Vegas should not mess around and bring the coach back as he was building something on the defensive side of the ball and in the locker room culture.
The odds are that the coach will return to Las Vegas next season but if the team waits too long, one of the many vacant coaching positions may be filled by Pierce. The coach deserves to be brought back as it is quite rare for an interim coach to gain such support from the locker room in such a short period of time.
