On Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders took a devastating loss to their AFC West rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, by a score of 31-17. The Raiders jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, but could not handle the high-powered Chiefs offense. As the lead started to slip away, head coach Antonio Pierce benched one of his star players, and it is now being reported that the team is parting ways with him.

Peters apparently gave "Minimal effort" on some plays, dating back to costly plays in the losses against the #Bears and #Dolphins this season.

Marcus Peters Released
Cornerback Marcus Peters was taken out of the game in the middle of the second quarter after a lack of effort on tackles throughout the first half. Peters and Pierce got into it on the sidelines during halftime, which resulted in the cornerback not playing the remainder of the game. Pierce did not go into specific details on what transpired, but it has been evident throughout the season that their veteran corner is not giving his full effort.
According to a league source, Peters was almost cut by the team earlier in the year, and he is now not expected to return with the team after their bye week coming up. The corner was signed to the team to be the leader for the Raiders’ secondary, but he has been a big disappointment since joining. The former Pro Bowl corner was able to snag an interception back in week eight against the Detroit Lions but has been very quiet other than that.
Las Vegas Raiders Trying To Find Ways To Win
Multiple players like Davante Adams and Robert Spillane are claiming that Kansas City did not outplay them in the loss, but that they beat themselves and did not execute where they were supposed to. The star receiver had this to say about the heartbreaking loss:
“No disrespect to them, but it was more about what we were doing. We didn’t really execute the way that we had been earlier. We have to do a better job of sticking to the things that got us to that point and find a way to finish.”
Las Vegas is now 5-7 and in third place in the AFC West division. They will have a bye this coming week before hosting the Minnesota Vikings, who have been a tough team for everyone since quarterback Joshua Dobbs came over. As for Peters, his campaign with the Raiders is done, and it will be interesting to see if he decides to look for another team to play on, or if he will decide to hang up the cleats and call it a career.
