The Eagles’ defensive coordinator search continues after the team and candidate Jim Leonhard mutually agreed to end talks.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the team and Leonhard decided to end talks on February 22nd, claiming “it wasn’t the right time”. Leonhard planned on undergoing hip surgery this offseason, then taking the year off from coaching to recover.

Leonhard was formerly the defensive coordinator and interim head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers before the Eagles became interested. Before his coaching career, he spent ten years in the NFL at safety, primarily as a journeyman.
Following the departure of Jonathan Gannon to Arizona, the Eagles’ defensive coordinator search now continues with the list of candidates continuing to shrink. The biggest remaining names are Dennard Wilson, Vance Jospeh, Sean Desai, and Jesse Minter.
