The Philadelphia Eagles need a defensive coordinator
The Philadelphia Eagles tried hard to keep their defensive coordinator. They reportedly offered more money to Jonathan Gannon to stay on as the defensive coordinator for next season. But he couldn’t resist the head coaching job with the Arizona Cardinals. Now the Eagles have a new candidate in mind.
According to Jeremy Fowler with ESPN, Jim Leonhard was interviewed for the Eagles’ defensive coordinator position.

Leonhard was a former walk-on for the Wisconsin Badgers who went on to play in the NFL. He was the Badgers’ defensive coordinator last season when head coach Paul Chryst was fired. Leonhard stepped in as the program’s interim coach. He was expected to be the next Badgers head coach after leading Wisconsin to a bowl game, but the school chose Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell to replace Chryst.
Leonhard is considered a top name in defensive coaching circles. He’s been tied to big-name jobs in college football and the NFL. The Eagles defensive coordinator job might be one of the most prestigious jobs in football after the way the unit played in 2022.
