In the late stages of the NFC Wild Card Game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, cornerback Darius Slay awkwardly went down as he had his legs caught under a pile of players and appeared to injure his lower back.

Darius Slay would attempt to walk off the field but was unable to do so and was carted off the field. He missed the final four games of the regular season as he underwent knee surgery and the playoffs was his first game back. We will provide you with any updates as they come out but prayers are sent for Darius Slay at this time as hopefully, the injury is not as serious as it initially looked.
Will Darius Slay be part of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024?
The Philadelphia Eagles are likely going to be keeping Darius Slay as they traded for him back in 2020 and agreed to a three-year, $50 million extension. According to Over the Cap, he still has three years with a cap number of just under $11 million with $35 million as a dead money cap hit if cut before June 1. With Slay still under contract until 2027, expect to see him step up and return as the Eagles defense needs to be revamped in the offseason.
Depending on what the injury Slay suffered was, he could be back on the field as soon as Week 1 or miss the season as we have no idea at this moment of the severity. Expect to see him still wearing an Eagles jersey. This season, he had 57 total tackles (48 solo, nine assisted) with a pair of interceptions.
