North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick worked in the NFL for nearly 50 years. He began his coaching career in 1975 as a special assistant with the Baltimore Colts. 25 years later, after stops with multiple NFL franchises, he was hired as the head coach of the New England Patriots, a job he held until 2023.
As the Patriots head coach, he won six Super Bowl titles, more than any coach in league history, and is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in history.
Now, at the age of 72, he is embarking on a new chapter in his career, leading a college program for the first time.
And he is getting some help from his 24-year-old girlfriend.
Bill Belichick’s Girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, Unofficially Works for North Carolina
Over the last couple of years, Belichick has seemingly made just as many headlines because of his relationship with Jordon Hudson than he has for his football prowess. The reason for this, of course, is because of the 48-year age gap between himself and Hudson.
Per a report in The Athletic, Hudson is very much involved in the day-to-day administration of the North Carolina football program. It was already known that Belichick requires any emails sent to him to also be sent to his girlfriend, but the report, written by Matt Baker, sheds light on what her role is.
“The Athletic obtained those emails Friday through an open records request,” Baker wrote. “The 44 pages provide a glimpse at the role of his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, as Belichick steers a college program for the first time.
“The correspondence addresses the optics of the NFL legend hiring his son as defensive coordinator and concerns about social media attacks. Hudson does not have a contract or other employment agreement with the university, according to a public records request.”
Since North Carolina is a public university, the emails sent and received by Belichick and Hudson are matters of public record, and these emails reveal that the couple took deep offense to allegations levied against the coaching legend by disgruntled fans.
Bill Belichick’s Girlfriend Wanted North Carolina to Protect the Coach from Certain Allegations
Some fans, apparently, have taken great exception to Belichick and Hudson’s relationship because of the 48-year age gap between them. In an email sent to university administrators earlier this year, Hudson wrote, “Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it / blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?”
Belichick followed up a few days later, writing, “I cannot believe that UNC would support my being called a ‘predator.'”
Obviously, criticism of their relationship due to their ages is something that is very sensitive to the couple.
