“Rodgers Is Still Your Best Option”: Aaron Rodgers Still Best QB Option For Steelers Despite Position Depth

Aaron Rodgers might make his decision about joining or not joining the Pittsburgh Steelers next week according to the team’s insider, Ray Fittipaldo. Fittipaldo appeared on ’93.7 The Fan’ and discussed the same. He also spoke out about the backup options that the Steelers might want to look in at this point.

Rodgers was let go by the New York Jets last month after a subpar season for the team. His poor numbers can be majorly blamed on injuries, but the 42-year-old quarterback certainly has plenty of football in him. Before the Jets, Rodgers was a star for the Green Bay Packers, and created a legacy of his own for the team.

“It’s probably going to be next week. They’ve waited this long, they’ve kind of painted themselves into a corner. If you’re the Steelers, what are your options? Rodgers is still your best option. If not, you’re gonna go with Mason Rudolph, and then probably have Skylar Thompson as your backup, and a rookie as your third, maybe working towards being your backup. It’s not going to be an ideal situation if [Rodgers] isn’t here. I think that’s why they’re willing to hold on and wait for an answer from him.” Ray Fittipaldo said on ’93.7 The Fan’ on Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are eager to improve their record in the upcoming season, hopefully with Aaron Rodgers. The team finished second in the AFC North with ten wins and seven defeats in the 2024 NFL season. The Steelers managed to make it to the Wild Card round and played against the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, the team lost to the Ravens with a final score of 28-14.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) may have played his last game for Gang Green, Sunday January 5, 2025, in East Rutherford.

Aaron Rodgers Will Sign With A Super Bowl Contender Or Retire

Meanwhile, another insider has admitted that veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers might simply up and retire from the game altogether, if he is unable to join a winning team. This reasoning might explain why the quarterback has chosen to not make a decision about the Pittsburgh Steelers yet.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are definitely a great team but might be lacking the firepower needed to propel them towards a Super Bowl win. Aaron Rodgers is apparently also trying to get a deal with the Minnesota Vikings, but the team has not responded to him yet. Rodgers has been playing in the league since 2005, but has won the Super Bowl only once. The legend might want to add another ring to his collection before hanging up his cleats.
