XFL’s Best Players Revealed: Season Stats Unveil Dominant Performances on the Field – Offense
The XFL’s 2023 season has hit the mid-way point, and it has been exciting, to say the least. At this point, the best players in XFL revealed themselves. With the league now starting the playoff push (or push to win a game for Orlando), the competition on the field is fierce, and the players’ performances have been nothing short of outstanding. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at some of the XFL’s best players so far this season, focusing on the offensive side of the ball.
Quarterbacks
Starting with the quarterbacks, two players have stood out as the best in the league. First, we have AJ McCarron, the quarterback for the St. Louis Battlehawks. McCarron so far has had an impressive season per the XFL stat tracker, throwing for 1,086 yards, 11 touchdowns, and completing 65.5% of his passes. He has been a leader on the field and led multiple comebacks to keep his team in position to grab a playoff spot.
The other quarterback who has stood out so far this season is Brandon Silvers of the Houston Roughnecks. Silvers has thrown for 1,189 yards, 9 touchdowns, and completed 62.1% of his passes. He shows excellent poise in the pocket and is able to make big plays when his team needs them the most. He will miss Jontre Kirklin for the rest of the season (Kirklin is also likely moving to the NFL after this season), so we will see if he is able to continue on this trajectory without his #1 target.
An honorable mention would be for Ben Dinucci. He has led the league in a few statistical categories; however, he leads the league in turnovers by a large margin which has largely kept his team out of contention. If he can clean it up, they have a good chance to make something out of the season.
Running Backs
Moving on to the running backs, Abram Smith of the DC Defenders has been a standout player this season. He was the #1 overall pick so it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but with startup leagues draft position usually doesn’t mean much. Smith, according to the XFL stat tracker so far, rushed for 432 yards and scored 4 touchdowns. He consistently bullies defenders and is a key contributor to his team’s success.
Another player who made a significant impact at the RB position was Brian Hill of the St Louis Battlehawks. Hill has rushed for 255 yards and scored 1 touchdown, and is a key player in his team’s running game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see both of these guys in the NFL this upcoming season, with Hill having some NFL reps in previous seasons.
Wide Receivers
At the halfway point of the 2023 XFL season, Jahcour Pearson and Hakeem Butler have emerged as two of the top receivers in the league. Pearson, playing for the Seattle Sea Dragons, has hauled in 36 receptions for 430 yards and one touchdown. His precise route-running and speed have made him a reliable target for quarterback Ben Dinucci, and he has been a key factor in the Sea Dragons’ push for the playoffs. In fact, Pearson’s presence on this team is largely what has kept this team in games even though they are horrendous at keeping the ball from the other team.
Meanwhile, Hakeem Butler has been a force for the St. Louis Battlehawks, amassing 30 receptions for 336 yards and an impressive four touchdowns. Standing at 6’5″, Butler has been a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses, using his size and athleticism to make tough catches in traffic and break tackles for big gains. With his ability to stretch the field and make plays in the red zone, he has become one of the most valuable weapons in the Battlehawks’ arsenal.
Both Pearson and Butler are crucial pieces for their respective teams as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs. Their production and consistency have been key factors in their teams’ success thus far, and they will need to continue to perform at a high level in the second half of the season. As the XFL playoffs approach, the eyes of the league will be on these two dynamic receivers as they try to lead their teams to victory.
Some players to watch possibly emerge as elite talent before the end of the season are guys like D’Eriq King who has been electric when given reps, Morgan Ellison who is a menace when healthy, and Cody Latimer, the converted WR to TE, who has been largely the only spark for the Orlando Guardians so far this year. With teams having the film to watch now, we can expect the competition to pick up and offenses to be able to exploit what has turned into weaknesses for the defenses around the league.
A team that was largely left off of the list is the San Antonio Brahmas. They have had some splashes, but the weak QB play has made it hard to really scout the talent on offense. With Reid Sinnett out for the season, expect to see Jawon Pass come in and possibly provide a spark. We have seen teams who are able to effectively run the ball dominate the league, and if this team adopts the QB run, they have the juice in the backfield to really make a run and close out the season strong.
Best Players in XFL Revealed
As the XFL 2023 season reaches its midway point, several players on XFL rosters have emerged as high level performers on the offensive side of the ball. Among the standouts are quarterbacks AJ McCarron and Brandon Silvers, running backs Abram Smith and Brian Hill, and wide receivers Jahcour Pearson and Hakeem Butler. Their performances have been instrumental in their teams’ success and will likely continue to be as the season progresses. With the playoff push heating up, these players will be watched closely as they strive to lead their teams to victory. Keep up with XFL content at https://gridironheroics.com/
