Welcome to the last installment of the best acquisition series. This series reviews each division’s best acquisition from the 2023 offseason. We will review the NFC West.
Criteria for this series
All individuals featured in this series must fulfill the specified criteria. The players on this list are those who joined a new team through trades or signings in the offseason, excluding draft picks, re-signed players, players claimed during roster cuts, regular season signings, or trades during the NFL Trade Deadline.
Note: Several teams lack a definitive player to be considered the best offseason acquisition. Teams without a definitive player are in italics.
Arizona Cardinals’ best offseason acquisition: C Hjalte Froholdt

Arizona signed Hjalte Froholdt to a 2-year, $4,600,000 contract with the expectation of being a reliable replacement for Rodney Hudson.
Froholdt impressed this season, with eight penalties, three sacks allowed, and a 64.1 PFF Grade.
Los Angeles Rams’ best offseason acquisition: CB Ahkello Witherspoon

San Francisco 49ers’ best offseason acquisition: DT Javon Hargrave

San Francisco signed Javon Hargrave to a 4-year, $84,000,000 contract with the expectation of bringing a veteran presence to the defensive line position.
Hargrave played well, recording 44 tackles, eight for a loss, 14 QB hits, seven sacks, and two pass deflections.
Hargrave made it to his second Pro Bowl.
Seattle Seahawks’ best offseason acquisition: LB Bobby Wagner

Seattle signed Bobby Wagner to a 1-year, $5,500,000 contract with the expectation of being their number-one middle linebacker.
Wagner did not disappoint, recording 183 tackles, 11 for a loss, six QB hits, 3.5 sacks, and three pass deflections.
Wagner made it to his 9th Pro Bowl and was a second-team All-Pro.
Wagner will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
